Australia beat the UAE in the Asian play-off qualifiers.. and faces Peru to decide the qualification for the World Cup


The Australian team defeated its UAE rival (2-1) in the Asian play-off competition, which precedes the World Cup 2022 World Cup qualifying play-off.

The two teams will meet at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday evening.

A goalless tie dominated the first half of the match, before Jackson Irvin opened the scoring for Australia in the 53rd minute. After 3 minutes, Cayo Canedo tied for the Emirates in the 56th minute. The Australian team regained its lead and scored its goal to win in the 84th minute by Agden Hrostik.

With the victory of the Australian team, it has qualified for the play-off match against Peru, on June 13 in Doha.

The victor from the match between Australia and Peru will advance to the World Cup in Qatar, to join the fourth group, which includes: France, Denmark, Tunisia.

The UAE national team met its Australian counterpart in 5 official matches, including tonight’s match. Australia won 4 matches, while the UAE won once.
